Obituary of Dean Nichols Jones Boyers

Dean Nichols Jones Boyers, age 92, of Gallatin passed away Friday, May 28, 2021. Funeral Service will be Friday, June 4th at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church Gallatin, with Rev. Candice Klein officiating. Visitation will be Friday, June 4th from 12:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Family Heritage Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Historic Gallatin Cemetery, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends of Sumner Regional, 555 Hartsville Pike, Gallatin, TN 37066 or The Nashville Rescue Mission, 639 Lafayette Street, Nashville, TN 37203. Mrs. Boyers was born October 11, 1928 in Woodbury, TN to the late George Nichols and Maggie Lee Alexander Nichols. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband of 56 years, John Harkey Boyers; son, John H. Boyers, Jr.; brother, C. Wayne Nichols; and first husband, Lt. Robert K. Jones, a pilot in the United States Air Force. She is survived by daughter, Karen Jones Hyatt of Gallatin; grandson, John W. Ross (Michelle); and granddaughter, Kerri M. Ross. She started volunteering as a young teenager at the local hospital on weekends and summers. Volunteering and getting involved in the nursing school while working at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic. Volunteering for a lifetime, she was a charter member of the Pink Ladies Organization at Sumner Regional Medical Center, now Friends of Sumner Regional. She ended her nursing career working for Dr. Diedre Cagle over 20 years. A member of the First Presbyterian Church for over 55 years, Historic Cragfont, a former member of the Ladies Hermitage Association, the Woman’s Circle, Murfreesboro Flower Lovers, and Garden Club in Gallatin.
