Extending my condolences to Charles Hawkins family, friends, caregivers, and associates. I had the honor of working as a caregiver with Mr. Hawkins for the last 3 and 1/2 yrs. I can remember the first day I worked. he greeted me in the front room with a hand shake. He begun to show me around and tell me a little of his life history that lasted for 3 hours. I believe we became friends that day. I earned his trust. and he earned mines to know that I would care for him to the end. I fulfilled my promise to him. We took our last walk out of Morning Pointe Assisted Living October 27,2021. I have so many stories and memories that there's not enough room on this page, He has won a place in my heart and has given me the strength to continue my journey to the end. I've lost a best friend {third father} that inspired and encouraged me everyday. If Mr. Hawkins couldn't say thank you, he would hold my hand. I know he will continue to watch over each and every soul he touched in this life, and rest peacefully. I'm lighting a blue candle because his last wish was to buy a Blue Cadillac. I was lucky to meet Charlie when I first started at Tech. I heard of his love for the Eagles and where they were across campus. I was humbled and grateful when one of them showed up at my desk one day. I look at it now and remember his love for eagles and his alma mater. He will be missed!
