Obituary of Robert James Jones

Robert James Jones, age 89 of Gallatin, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 28th in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Bro. Travis Peach officiating. Visitation will be Monday, December 27th from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, December 28th from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens, with Cody Brogan, Eric Brewington, Bill Jones II, C. J. Luebbe, Dustin Goodwin, and Taylor Carver serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Sam Murphy, L. D. Jones, and Ray Thompson. Mr. Jones was born June 27, 1932 in Lafayette to the late Jimmy Taylor Jones and Mary Belle Disman Jones. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Anita Fae Hulsey; brothers, Lynn Jones and Donald Jones; and sisters, Freddie Goodall, Eunice Jones, Lois Hood, Ella Reid, and Esterlene Vinson. He is survived by sons, Bill Jones (Yvonne) of Cartersville, GA and Donald Jones (Sandra) of Lebanon; daughters, Shelia Brock (Eddie) of Gallatin and Teresa Goodwin (Michael) of Mt. Juliet; special nephews, Ricky Brogan (Debra) and Kevin Brogan (Kimila); special in-laws, Joyce Jones Shoulders and Eva Brogan; 17 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Mr. Jones retired from Avco after over 20 years of service. He was also known as the “Vegetable Man”, selling vegetables next the Gallatin Public Library.
