Dear Sharon, when I received your call today, I knew that something terrible must have happened. I then google Dick and found out about his untimely passing. Dick and I met in 1961 as freshmen at Ferris State. We were roommates and as such had many laughs and experiences as college freshmen.
I remember when I moved into the dorm room with him, he was a smoker. He was smoking Marlboros and he had taken the empty packages and pinned them of the ceiling titles.
We had another guy who was in the room next to us - his name was Larry Thompson. Larry was a magician and he taught us on how to escape from a strait jacket.
It was a real experience for two guys who had moved hundreds of miles from their hometowns.
Not to long into our first year, Dick received an emergency phone call. This is when Sharon got in that terrible accident.
I don't recall if Dick came back to school, but we did maintain our friendship and I visited him in Livonia.
One trip I made to Liviona resulted in me getting in an accident That was not a good time for my father and me.
I don't remember much about Dick and Sharon's wedding but, I was there by his side.
Since he retired to move to TN, we had planned to see each other on several occasions. I will always remember Dick as a true and faithful person. So sad we didn't get to catch up in Atlanta.
Love to Sharon and the family.
