Obituary of Polly Joy Bailey

Polly Bailey peacefully passed away to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 1, 2022 surrounded by loving family at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The Celebration of Life is Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, (2600 Rouse Road), Kinston, NC.  Friends and Family are invited to attend.

She was born in Wilson County, N. C. To Luther and Lilly Boykin, raised on a farm with six brothers and three wonderful sisters. She retired after thirty-three years of service at Hampton Industries, Inc. After retirement she enjoyed cooking, fishing at the coast, playing Skip Bo with her best friends, and traveling.  She enjoyed life to the fullest. Polly was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was always her priority and she was loved by many. Her life was filled with many hours of volunteer work among her church family at First Baptist Church of Kinston.  She loved the Lord, studied the Bible and was a prayer warrior for many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Lilly Boykin, her husband of 50 years, Harold (Bill) L. Bailey, Jr.; and her second husband Mercer Albert Heath.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Hilton Jerome Boykin, Richmond Edward Boykin, Hilliard Vermell Boykin, Martin Luther Boykin, Wiley Wilton Boykin, Cecil Gerald Boykin, sisters Mary Elizabeth White, Susie Gay Williamson and Billie Faye Williams, and twin great-granddaughters Harper and Sadie Hill. 

Polly loved her family dearly and is survived by her daughter Janet Bailey Winfree and husband Tom of Murfreesboro, TN.  Son William Harold Bailey and wife Tina of Pensacola, Florida. Stepchildren Michael Heath and wife Susie, Gregory Scott Heath and wife Lisa, Stacy Alan Heath and wife Teresa. Grandchildren Joe Hill and wife Chelsea, Jason Hill and wife Misty, and bonus granddaughters Tiffany Walters and Tomi Levy. Five great-granddaughters Bailey Hill, Reagan Hill, Hannah Hill, Nora Hill and Ally Hill.  Great Grandsons Christopher Walters, Cameron Walters, Bhodi Levy and Xander Levy.
