Obituary of Jack Owen Ganders Jr.
On Tuesday, June 8, 2021, Jack Owen Ganders, Jr. passed away at home at the age of 62. Born in Dallas, TX and raised between Corpus Christi, TX and Amarillo, TX, Jack eventually found his way to Portland, TN where he spent several years as a maintenance man for Flying J in Franklin, KY and where he met his wife, Candace. Jack was an avid fisherman, a cut-throat Spades player, and a lover of nature and animals, especially his dogs.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Jack Sr., mother, Frances, as well as a younger brother, Robert. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Candace, his brothers, Buddy of Lebanon, TN, and Monroe of Amarillo, TX. He is also survived by a special daughter, Jacqueline of Perkins, OK, and many nieces and nephews that held a special place in his heart.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Portland, TN. Bring your most joyful memories with you as we celebrate Jack. Leave your sadness at the door, but bring your stories, your laughs and your happiness over a life that was lived to the fullest. Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 PM until service time at 6:00 PM with Pastor Tim Colovas officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Humane Society of Sumner County or your local animal rescue.
