Our hearts are broken at this time. When Mama passed away 21 months ago, Britt was more than a funeral director, he was a friend. He did a beautiful job on designing their stone. My husband would go by there since then and Britt would always ask how myself and Dad was doing. Portland lost one of it's best. See you at home Britt.

My dad, Bennie Barker, loved Britt aka "The Undertaker." Side note we loved wrestling! One Saturday morning I was having coffee with my mother when daddy walked in and said the undertaker is getting married tonigh in Franklin. Little did I know he meant Britt Gilbert! In my head I was thinking of wrestling star the undertaker and thinking could I possible crash the wedding. He proceeds to say they are eating at a restaurant in Franklin, KY. After listening to him talk about it and me asking questions, I realized we were not talking about the same undertaker. This has made me smile for years.

Britt was caring and more than helpful to our family when my father passed in 2020. Last year my younger sister left us and he was more than a friend to share our troubled time for my mother and I. We sat in his office discussing our shared current situation with sicknesses pondering the future. When we laid my sister to rest he told us afterward he didn't want to see us like this again for a long time. He will be sorely missed for bringing levity and sanity to these trying times we all cross. Never would have thought it will be because he would be gone that we won't be seeing each other again under any circumstance. Prayers for his family, wife, and children even his dog as we all talked about those close to him at each meeting. We can't thank his family enough for sharing his brand of caring and concern for others with us all.
