Obituary of Fred McMurtry

Mr. Freddie Odell McMurtry, age 77 of Portland, Tennessee passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022 at his residence. Mr. McMurtry was born on April 17, 1945 in Waycross, Tennessee to the late Archie and Laura Allen McMurtry.

Fred is survived by his wife, Vivian McMurtry; son, Tommy (Kim) McMurtry; sisters, Dara Lanning and Lily Loraine Belcher; brother, Lloyd McMurtry; grandchildren, Cole Lawson and Emily Lawson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his daughter, Anita McMurtry Lawson.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 28^th at 12:00 PM from the chapel of Gilbert Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Cook officiating. Interment will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, April 27^th from 4:00-8:00 PM and Thursday, April 28^th from 10:00 AM until time of service.
