Obituary of James Elmer Lassiter

Mr. James “Jimmy” Elmer Lassiter, age 82 of Portland, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Vanderbilt Hospital. Mr. Lassiter was born on May 6, 1939 in Greenbrier, Tennessee to the late Elmer and Annie Spain Lassiter.

Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Christy (Kevin) Lassiter Rogers; grandchildren, Brandon Rogers, Lauren (Randal) Wilson, and Colin Rogers; great-grandchildren, Colt Rogers and Ryleigh Jo Wilson; sister, Carolyn Lassiter Thompson; brother, Bobby Lassiter.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Lassiter; brothers, Herschel Lassiter and Virgil Lassiter; sisters, Ruby Cleo Lassiter, Bernice Lassiter, and Dorothy Lassiter.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 2^nd at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage at Portland with Pastor Duane Garner and Bro. Richard Jones officiating. Interment will follow the service with military honors at Old Brush Cemetery with Kevin Rogers, Brandon Rogers, Colin Rogers, Randal Wilson, Jeff Thompson, and Kenny Wayne Wilson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer is Colt Rogers. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, May 1^st from 11:00-7:00 PM and Monday, May 2^nd from 10:00 AM until time of service.
