Obituary of William Bryon Goad

William Bryon Goad, age 51, of Hendersonville, TN, passed into glory on May 3, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Bryon was preceded in death by his grandparents, Delbert & Ethel Mae Goad and Henry Allen & Viola Hinton, and uncles, Harry Dean Summers and Randall Joe Goad.  He is survived by his wife, Christy, and stepchildren, Jack Busey and Maggie Wallace; parents, Willie & Darlene Goad of Mitchellville; sister, Jennie May Waggoner (Robert) of Red Boiling Springs; niece, Jessie May Goad-Stafford of Portland; great-niece, Ellie May Petry of Portland; uncle, Henry Hinton of Portland; aunt, Mylinda Jane King (Philip) of Bowling Green, KY; aunt, Cindy Brown of Bakersville, CA.

Bryon was born on August 15, 1970 at Highland Hospital in Portland, TN.  He was a 1988 graduate of Portland High School and an employee of Sunshine Tree Care at the time of his illness.  Bryon was a passionate and lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys, an adventurous hiker and outdoorsman, a proficient marksman, a skilled woodworker, a talented artist, and a mentor to many.  His love, kindness, and willingness to help others will long be remembered in our hearts by all who knew him.

The family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. John Millspaugh, Sarah Cannon Cancer Center and Research Institute, members of Community Church, and our friends and neighbors for all their acts of love and kindness during his illness.

Visitation will be at Sellars Family Heritage, 610 N. Broadway, Portland, TN, on Thursday, May 5^th, 2:00-8:00pm and at Community Church, 381 W. Main St., Hendersonville, TN, on Friday, May 6^th, 10:00am-12:00pm.  The Celebration of Life Service will be at 12:00pm at Community Church with Pastor Doug Varnado officiating.  Interment will follow at Old Brush Cemetery in Portland with pallbearers Jack Busey, Steven Encarnacion, Robert Summers, Gary Crafton, Jeremiah Sunshine, Hezekiah Sunshine, Kyle King and Gary Corn.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be earmarked the Jack Busey College Fund payable to Community Church of Hendersonville.
