Obituary of Yematawork Wondimu Kidane
Our beloved Yematawork Wondimu Kidane (or, as she was lovingly nicknamed by many, Enu) passed away on June 11th, 2022. Enu was born on June 16th, 1934 in her homeland of Sidamo, Ethiopia. She spent a majority of her young life in Sidamo, where she was surrounded by a large family, raised her children, and made a living as an entrepreneur. Her path in life took her to many different places where she met people of all walks of life and built a community with them. Enu had a profound ability to unite those she loved; she was a peacemaker, had a giving spirit, and was the pillar and matriarch of her family. She was a woman of strong faith who never let the trials she faced in life harden her heart or turn her away from her devotion to God.
Enu is survived by her five children: Seleshi Mengesha, Wudnesh Mengesha, Sosna Mengesha, Ayelech Deneke, and Taye Mengesha. Enu will be dearly missed by her eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and her devoted extended family and friends. She leaves behind so many who loved, cherished, and valued her immeasurably, and who she loved, cherished, and valued in return. God blessed her with a long and rich life filled with countless blessings and memories, and those who love her most will forever honor her life.
