Obituary of Mary Jo Valle

Mary Jo Puryear Valle passed away on July 5, 2022 at the age of 91.   The Funeral Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN. Interment in Jones Hill Cemetery, Watertown TN will follow the service. Her family will be receiving friends & family at the funeral home on Friday, 4-8 p.m., and on Saturday 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. 

Mary Jo had a remarkable and love-filled life.  She was born near Taylorsville, TN to Mary Lou White Puryear and Joseph Richard Puryear, Jr.   She was an avid music lover, enjoyed singing in the church choir, loved her country and pursued a life-long passion for scrapbooking – especially family events.  She attended Cumberland University and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Union University in 1952.  She worked many positions throughout her career – including McDonnell Aircraft, the U.S. Bureau of Mines as well as roles at Del Valle Studios and Baby Super Store. Her last position was with Lifeway Industries – a job which brought her many friends whom she loved. She retired reluctantly well into her eighties.

She is survived by her children, Daniel (Mary Alison) Valle and Luann Valle; her grandchildren Christy Netherton, Melinda (Barry) Hesse, Ryan (Holly) Netherton and Elena Valle as well as her great-granddaughters Karlee Netherton and Peyton Hesse. They, along with her many nieces, nephews and extended family were the center of her world.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Delbert L. Valle, her parents and her brothers John White Puryear and Bryan R. Puryear.
