Obituary of Jettie Ruth Jones

Jettie Ruth Jones, age 75 of Portland, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023.  Funeral Service will be Thursday, June 8^th at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin.  Visitation will be Thursday, June 8^th from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Potter Children’s Home, 2350 Nashville Road, Bowling Green, KY  42101.

Mrs. Jones was born March 10, 1948 in Sumner County to the late J. C. Kirby and Ruby Roark Kirby.   In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband Steven Harold Downing.  She is survived by daughters, Wendy Hardy (Tony) of Portland and Stephanie Downing (David Gilley) of Orlinda; brother, Tom Kirby (Rommy) of Hendersonville; niece and nephew, Megan Kirby and Jack Kirby; 7 grandchildren, Shane Belt, Stephen Taylor (Shawn Evans), Symantha Riley (Josh), Dallas Ruiz, Hunter Holub, Michael Hardy, and Austin Hardy; and 20 great grandchildren.  Mrs. Jones worked for Donnelley Printing Company for many years and owned a cleaning business that she loved.  Online condolences may be submitted to familyheritgefh.com.
