Obituary of James Stuber Gordon
On June 8, 2023, Jim Gordon peacefully died in his home surrounded by his family. He was 77 years old.
James “Jim” Stuber Gordon is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Barbara “Bunny” Gordon of Mt. Juliet, TN and their four children: Kimberly Gail Gordon Vitolins (Paul), James Briscoe Gordon (Regina), Kelly Michelle Gordon Massa (Alex), and Kristine Elizabeth Gordon Lineberry (Mark). His cherished surviving siblings are G.E. Gordon (Maryanne) of Missouri, Robert Gordon of Virginia, Sue Price (Jim) of Florida, and Sister-in-law, Janet Gordon of Wichita, KS.
He also leaves behind a herd of grandchildren: Bradford Lineberry (September), Erik Vitolins (Katie), Rose Vitolins, Aaron Vitolins, Eliza Vitolins, Savannah Lineberry Pettit (Alex), Colby Massa, Briscoe Massa, Jayce Massa, Lily Vitolins, and Gustavious “Gus” Gordon. He is also survived by five great grandchildren: Alice Vitolins, David James Pettit, Elsie Vitolins, Ethan Pettit, Ivy Vitolins, Levi Lineberry, Presley Lineberry, and Evangeline Pettit.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Fern Lavonne Gordon and father, Gale Earl Gordon of West Plains, MO.; his brother, Bill Gordon of Wichita, KS.; brothers-in-law, David Dantice, Garner Russell, Ken Matthews; and his in-laws, Richard and Peggy “Mom” Briscoe of Mt. Juliet, TN, and many others.
James “Jim” Stuber Gordon was born on September 3, 1945, in Springfield, MO. In 1963, he graduated from West Plains H.S. and then attended Southwest Missouri State in Springfield, MO. On August 21, 1965, he married the love of his life, Barbara “Bunny” Gordon. They moved to Ada, Oklahoma in 1967, then to Tulsa for work. In 1973, they packed up their four small children and moved to Nashville, TN. In 1976, he started Gordon Construction, Inc. which continues today under the leadership of his son, Briscoe Gordon.
Jim was proud of his accomplishments in business, but nothing meant more to him than the family Bunny and he had built together. The family is rejoicing that he is in the presence of the Our Living Lord. We thank God that He shared him with us for so many years, how blessed were we! Thank you, Jesus.
The family will be having a private graveside service.
