Obituary of Martha Joe Freeman Jewell

Mrs. Martha Joe Freeman Jewell, age 73 of Hartsville, TN passed away Friday morning, June 23, 2023 at her home.

Martha Joe spent many years teaching at the Trousdale County Elementary School where she touched the lives of many students.  She was a member of the Hartsville Church of Christ.  She belonged to many clubs and organizations:  Hartsville Rotary Club, Retired Teachers Association, Trousdale County Historical Society, Trousdale County Fair Board and the Library Board.

She was preceded in death by:  Parents, Gordon & Martha May Freeman and Grandparents, John & Julia Kerr, William Perkins and Lucinda Freeman and Beloved Aunt, Pat Kerr Falco.

Survived by:  Husband, Dwight Jewell-Hartsville, TN;  Step Son, Anthony Jewell-Crossville, TN;  2 Step Daughters, Amanda (Chris) Gregory-Hartsville, TN and Laura DeRise-Franklin, TN;  5 Grandchildren, Jay Gregory, Luke & Sophia Jewell, Mark Jr. and  Scarlett Dolan;  3 Brothers, Gordon L. “Buddy” (Juanita) Freeman Jr.-Clarksville, TN, Pat “Butch” Freeman-Ridgefield, WA and Louie “Bo” (Laura) Freeman-Roxboro, NC.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Anthony Funeral Home at 11 AM Saturday, July 1, 2023 conducted by Bro. Dwight Fuqua. Honorary Pallbearers:  Current & Former Teachers, Students and Staff at TCES. Active Pallbeares:  Gordon Freeman Jr., Pat Freeman, Louie Freeman, Mathew Freeman, Andrew Freeman, Anthony Jewell, Chris & Jay Gregory. Interment will be in the Hartsville Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be held from 1 to 8 PM Friday and 9 AM until service time Saturday.
