In Loving Memory of Sharon Kennedy

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon Kennedy (Toms), who left us on August 3rd at the age of 64 after a long battle with cancer. Sharon was a devoted and loving mother, cherished sister, and a dear friend to many. Her departure leaves an immense void in our hearts, but her memory will forever shine brightly.

Born in New Jersey, Sharon grew up with a sweet smile and an empathetic spirit. Throughout her life, Sharon was known for her unwavering kindness, compassion, generosity, her fighting spirit, hardworking attitude and loyalty to those she loved.

Sharon was an executive assistant before her daughter, Rachel,  was born, and had worked as a receptionist, retail and marketing specialist, and activities assistant in the last 15 years of her life. Her true passion however was when she was a stay-at-home mom, dedicating herself to creating a loving and nurturing environment for her family. In her later years she enjoyed being a dog mom to many rescue dogs, showing her love and care for her furry companions, hoping to provide them with their happily ever after.

Sharon is survived by her daughter, Rachel Kennedy,her treasured dogs Joey, Roxie and Willow, her granddogs Gracie, Winston and Cooper,  her sister Janice Conte (Rick), and her cousins Tom, Eileen, George and Gene who she was happy to reconnect with later in life. She was preceded in death by many cherished pets over the years including Chelsea, Ziggy, Romeo, Tico and Maxx,  her parents, John and Marie Toms and extended family Diana Peabody and Nancy Whittaker.

Please join us in celebrating Sharon's life and remembering her as a caring and devoted individual who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10, from 5-8pm, and on Friday, August 11, from 10-11am. A memorial service to celebrate Sharon’s life will be held on August 11th at 11:00am. Both the visitation and celebration of life will take place at Sellars Funeral Home, Mount Juliet.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to the ASPCA and New Leash On Life - Home of The JOY Clinic in Lebanon, TN. These organizations were close to Sharon's heart, reflecting her passion for helping animals in need.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their condolences and support during this difficult time. We would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Smith County Health and Rehab for all of their care and support for Sharon and the whole family in her final months. May we find strength in unity as we remember and honor the remarkable life of Sharon Kennedy.
