Obituary of Shelia "Sissy" Whitaker

Shelia “Sissy” Whitaker, age 70 of Gallatin, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023.  Funeral Service will be Tuesday, September 19th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin, with Karl Covington officiating.  Visitation will be Monday, September 18th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, September 19th from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow the service at Crestview Memory Gardens, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Douglass Chapel Methodist Church, 2141 Long Hollow Pike, Gallatin, TN  37066.

Mrs. Whitaker was born October 21, 1952 in Gallatin to the late G. D. “Buddy” Lauderdale and Louise Wilkerson Lauderdale.  She is survived by husband of 52 years, Jerry Whitaker of Gallatin; son, Casey Whitaker (Brandi) of Gallatin; sister, Teresa Curd (Paul) of Gallatin; grandchildren, Madelyn Whitaker and Kendal Whitaker; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Mrs. Whitaker worked for Cosco/Globe and later retired from World of Plastic after several years of service.  In addition, she worked for Charles C. Parks Co. and several other businesses before retiring in 2014.   She enjoyed cooking, sewing, raising tomatoes, crappie fishing, and especially spending time with her granddaughters.  She was a great wife, mother, and grandmother.  She will be greatly missed.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.
