Obituary of James Devon Henderson

James Devon Henderson, age 89 of Castalian Springs, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023.  Funeral Service will be Tuesday, October 3rd at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin, with Bro. Jerry Willoughby officiating.  Visitation will be Monday, October 2nd from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, October 3rd from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.    Interment will be at Himes Cemetery, 2817 Summertown Hwy, Summertown, TN  38483 at 2:00 p.m. (anyone attending, please meet at the cemetery at the time of interment).  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 394 W. Main Street Suite A3, Hendersonville, TN  37075.

Mr. Henderson was born December 31, 1933 in Summertown, TN to the late George Urban Henderson and Mattie Lou Jolly Henderson.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by grandparents, John Freeman Henderson and Mary Emma Henderson; sisters, Mary Iva Brown and Urbelene French; and brother, David Shelton Henderson.  He is survived by wife of 30 years, Grace Yvonne Wright Henderson of Castalian Springs; daughters, Bobby June Carpenter (Rick) of Nashville and Denise Short (Jimmy) of Smyrna; son, Richard Wayne Beaver (Karen) of Shelby, NC; sister, Jewel Bailey (Bob) of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Terri Nicole Harper (Ashley), Benjamin Starr (Jan), and William Leon Starr III (Haley); and great grandchildren, Zoe Starr, Jentzen Starr, Aldyn Seth Harper, Ally Goodson, and Devon Isaac Starr.  Mr. Henderson served our country in the United States Army.  He worked for TVA, Peterbilt, Ryder, and Case.  After retirement, he worked for Garrott Brothers.  Mr. Henderson was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.
