Obituary of Melba M. Langley

Melba Langley, 90, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on October 10, 2023, in Nashville. She was born on April 22, 1933, in Baxter, Tennessee, to Clyde and Effie Rhoton. Melba was a supportive and devoted homemaker, pastor's wife, and seamstress throughout her life.

Melba was known for her quiet and unassuming nature, as well as her friendly and sincere demeanor. She was a beloved wife to Earl Langley and a cherished mother to her daughter, Donna Van Kluyve. She adored her grandson, Richard Van Kluyve, and took great joy in her role as a great-grandmother to Liam, Layne, Valerie, and Louie VanKluve. Melba also had a special bond with her niece, Cheryl Addington, and nephews, Bob, Lonnie, and Ronnie Hickey.

Melba was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Effie Rhoton, her sisters, Geneva Hickey and Donnie Cardona, and her brothers, William and Verble Rhoton; Beloved son Ronald Glenn Langley & beloved grandson Eric Lee Van Kluyve.

Melba was a faithful member of the Free Will Baptist Churches, where she found solace and strength. She lived a life guided by her beliefs and found comfort in her religious community.

The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet at 4:00pm. The Interment will follow the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. The Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00pm until service time at 4:00pm. Contributions in Melba's memory can be made to Welch College or the Nashville Rescue Mission, organizations that were close to her heart.

Melba Langley will be remembered for her unwavering support as a homemaker, her dedication as a pastor's wife, and her skill as a seamstress. Her kindness and sincerity touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
