A joint Celebration of Life for Rosie and her beloved husband Pete will be held in Gallatin at Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin in the spring, as it was their favorite season. They both reveled in the beauty of blooming flowers and trees.

Obituary of Rosalind "Rosie" Smith Minton

Rosalind Smith (Rosie) Minton, 86, passed away Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023 in Gallatin, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years The Rev. Canon H.P. (Pete) Minton, Jr; birth parents Katherine and William B. Potter; adoptive parents Elizabeth and Beasley Smith and siblings Bill, Daniel, Tommy, Marie, Kathleen, Skippy and Dottie. Survived by children William Beasley “Bill” Scales (Lori) of Eureka Springs, AR, Ellsworth Stevens “Steve” Scales (Anita) of Daytona Beach, FL, Elizabeth Scales Mayo (Randy) of Foley, AL and Henry P. Minton III (Tonya) of Franklin, KY; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers Richard and Tim Potter; several nieces and nephews; devoted caregiver and companion Holly Wade and multitudes of friends including her angels on earth Hector and Ellie Martinez.

Rosie was a graduate of Saint Bernard Academy and attended Vanderbilt University. She was a passionate member of the Episcopal Missionary Church. Rosie was an avid gardener and loved books and all children. She had a servant’s heart and spent much of her time in volunteer work and ministering to children.

Rosie was past president of Randy Smith Music Company, a member of ASCAP, former superintendent of Sunday School at St. George’s Episcopal Church-Nashville and former board member of Williamson County Cancer Society, Middle TN Girl Scouts and Salvation Army of Kingsport, TN.

Celebration of Life Service will be a 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 12th at Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin.  Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her name to Episcopal Missionary Church, P.O.
