Obituary of Gregg Lee Aldrich
Gregg Lee Aldrich left this world on November 8, 2023. Vascular dementia and early onset Alzheimer's took him from the family and friends he so dearly loved and who are now left wondering how they will continue without his loving care. He leaves these loved ones with wonderful memories of his humor, his kindness, and his warm smile. Before this horrible disease robbed him of his future, Gregg (who used his middle name, Lee, for much of his life) enjoyed photography, cooking, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also a talented artist, though he claimed that wasn't so.
Gregg was our family's rock. It was a role that he took to heart, especially after his children were born. For many years, Gregg selflessly sacrificed a deep part of himself so that his children could have a stable and happy upbringing. Even in his final weeks of life, the sight of his son and daughter brought a proud smile and a twinkle of joy to his eyes. And while his illness limited his memory of his grandchildren, there was never a doubt that he absolutely adored them.
Gregg is survived by his wonderful husband of 7 years, William Johnson; children, Jessica Aldrich Ragsdale and Donald Aldrich; grandchildren, Annabella Irons, Alivia Ragsdale, Everett Ragsdale, Noah Aldrich, and Conrad Ragsdale; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to thank his care team at Alive Hospice: Brian Tuverson, Marc Vera, Loretta Cook, Dr. Stephanie Nelson, Karen Fleming and, especially, Jane Harrison, his primary nurse. Their knowledge and kindness throughout this horrible time has been a blessing for which the family will be forever grateful. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Gregg's honor to Alive Hospice Nashville at alivehospice.org or to The Dementia Society of America at dementiasociety.org.
