Obituary of Willie Cook

Willie Cook, age 88 of Bethpage, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at his daughter’s home.  Funeral Service will be Thursday, December 7th at 1:00 p.m. at Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin.  Visitation will be Wednesday, December 6th from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, December 7th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin to assist the family with expenses.

Mr. Cook was born March 20, 1935 in Gladys, TN to the late Francis Cornwell Cook and Mary Claudia Case Cook.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by long-time companion, Martha Carter; son, Tex Allen Cook; daughter, Doris Cook; sisters, Mary Huddleston, Shirley Harper, Leola Hawkins, Margaret Lamb, and Dorothy Huddleston; brothers, Francis Cook, Jr, Edmond H. Cook, Robert Cook, Joe Cook, Charlie Cook, Harley Cook, and Hoyet Cook; companion Martha’s daughters, Martha Ann Cortes and Sue Moore; and companion Martha’s granddaughter, Martha Cortes.

He is survived by daughter, Darlene Thompson (Donnie) of Bethpage; son, Ricky Clay Cook of Lafayette; brother, Harry D. Cook (Patricia “Pat”) of Gallatin; sister, Janie McDole (Tommy) of Portland, Jewell Roberts (Donald) of Cottontown, and Georgie Gray of Washington State; grandchildren, Gracie Taylor (Chris), Cindy Shannon (Richie), Amy (Buster), Billy Fuqua (Marsha), Tiffany Fuqua, and Le Ann Howell; great grandchildren, Josh Howell, Erin Zirock (Chris), Ashlyn Fuqua, Madison Wallace, Cooper Fuqua, Hannah Rice, Kenzie Rice, Aaliah Graves, Lukas Graves, Jacob Graves, Taylor Shannon, and Jacob Shannon; 3 great-great grandchildren; companion Martha’s children, Ricky Ramsey (Katie) of Scottsville, KY and Debbie Biggers (Ricky) of Westmoreland; Martha’s grandchildren, Mickey Biggers, Chris Biggers, Becky Holmes (Stacy), Tex Ramsey (Shelia), Richard Ramsey, Jr. (Monica), Paul Ramsey (Carrie), and Christina Cortes; and Martha’s 23 great grandchildren.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.
