Obituary of Lonnie James Eidson
Mr. Lonnie James Eidson age 76, of Portland, Tennessee passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Lonnie was born in Nashville, Tennessee to the late James and Margaret Eidson.
Lonnie grew up in Madison, Tennessee. He moved to Hendersonville, Tennessee along with his wife Etta where they raised their three children, DaRhonda, Daryl, and Dwight. He worked in sales most of his life. He loved his time spent in the Hendersonville parks. He was a baseball umpire for many years and coached football, baseball, and basketball. He was a true family man who absolutely loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Most everyone knows him as Papaw or Pops. He left a wonderful legacy and will be missed and loved by many.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Daryl Eidson; son-in-law, Scott Berry; brother, Eddie Eidson; sister, Vivian Hatcher.
Lonnie is survived by his wife, Etta Eidson; children, Dwight (Eve) Eidson and DaRhonda Eidson Berry; daughter-in-law, Sharon Eidson; grandchildren, Taylor (Rob) Brightup, Haley (Desmond) Stradtner, Mikayla (Ben) Brooks, Anthony Eidson, and Amber (Larry) Richardson; eleven great grandchildren; brother, David (Judy) Eidson; sister, Wanda (Terry) Seger.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 13th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home at Hendersonville with Del Pharris officiating. Interment will follow the service at Hendersonville Memory Gardens with Anthony Eidson, Robert Brightup, Ben Brooks, Brandon Seger, Allan Lemon, and Desmond Stradtner serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, December 13th from 11:00 AM until time of service at 2:00 PM.
