Obituary of Johnny Ray Keene
Johnny Ray Keene, age 67, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2023, at home.
Johnny, more affectionately known as Turkey, Bub, Dad, Big Daddy, Uncle Johnny, Mr. Johnny, or most importantly PA, was born to Johnny Eugene and Mary Lou Keene on June 28th, 1956, in Madison, TN. Johnny loved Vols football, everything outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and he was truly a Mr. Fix-it who could solve just about any issue set before him. He also enjoyed spending his days at home with his family and spending time at his home church—Station Camp Baptist—where he served faithfully as a deacon for over twenty years.
Johnny is preceded in death by his grandparents, Gaynell and Lydle Scruggs and Britton and Willie Mae Keene, and his father, Johnny Eugene Keene.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Hale) Keene; his son and daughter-in-law, Johnny Alan and Samantha Keene; his daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Emily Ann and Edgar Reyes; and his seven grandchildren, Isaac, Jacob, SarahElizabeth, and Noah Keene, and Zechariah, Elijah, and Ellyanna Reyes. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Lou Keene; his sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Kevin Smith; his niece, Caitlin Purnell (Walter) and children, August and Parker; and nephew, Logan Smith (Soni).
In addition, Johnny loved his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Bernie and Gayle Jernigan, and his brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Evelyn Sanders.
There will be a Memorial Service to honor Johnny’s life on Saturday, January 6th, 2024, at Station Camp Baptist Church located at 100 Vantrease Road, Cottontown, TN 37048. The family will receive visitors from 1:00-2:00 p.m., and the service will begin at 2:00 p.m.
