Obituary of Joan Elaine Lamey

Joan Elaine Lamey left her earthly home and entered eternal life on January 11, 2024. Joan was 82 years old having been born on September 20, 1941 in Lock Haven, PA.

She was the daughter of the late James and Helen Frank.  She spent her early years in Loganton, PA.  She graduated from Sugar Valley High School in 1959 and then attended Willamsport School of Commerce for secretarial science.  She married the love of her life, Jerry Lamey, on October 27, 1962 in Loganton.  They built their life together for over 50 years before his passing on January 12, 2013.  During their 50 years together, they lived in Loganton, PA; Lakeland, FL; Mercersburg, PA before finally settling in Mt Juliet, TN in 1984.  It was there, Joan was employed by the Mt. Juliet Public Library for 24 years and retired in 2010.  After her retirement, because of her outgoing personality, smiling face, her love of books and the patrons, she continued to volunteer until recently.  Joan was a very loving and caring person to all of her family and friends. She always had a kind word for everyone and especially loved children and never met a stranger.

She leaves behind her 2 sons, Brian (Fran) Lamey of Old Hickory, TN; Chad (Chastity) Lamey of Mt. Juliet, TN.  Her grandchildren Jarrad (Alex) Lamey and Lindsey Lamey.  Step grandchildren Neal (Kristen) Cothron; Jennifer (Brian) Gentry and 5 step great grandchildren; Gannon, Easton and Paisley Cothron and Conner and John Carter Gentry.  She also leaves behind a brother Jimmy (Nancy) Frank of Harrisburg, PA, 2 sister in laws, Vickey Lamey Warshaw and Susan Lamey of Pennsylvania.  Nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends that will miss her tremendously.  Visitation will be Wednesday January, 17th from 4 pm to 8 pm and again on Thursday January 18th 10 a.m. to noon followed by the funeral services at noon by Sellars Funeral Home, 2229 N. Mt. Juliet Rd., Mt. Juliet, TN 37122.
