Obituary of Carolyn Morgan Miller

Carolyn Morgan Miller, age 84, of Mt. Juliet passed away in her sleep on January 12, 2024, in the Memory Care unit at Carrick Glen Senior Living in Mt. Juliet. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Sellars Funeral Home in Mt. Juliet with Dr. Garry D. Speich officiating.  Visitation will precede the service from 11AM-1PM.  Following the service will be a private burial.

Carolyn is survived by sons Duane Miller of Mt. Juliet, and Dean Miller of Sandy Springs, GA.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Richard "Dick" Miller, parents Gilbert Morgan and Lala Jackson Morgan of Charlotte, NC, siblings Marsh Morgan, LaVerne Morgan, Gilbert Morgan Jr., Belmont J. Morgan, Elizabeth Morgan, James E. Morgan, Margaret Whitfield, and Dorothy Cooper.

Carolyn was born in Durham, NC on August 6, 1939, and was a graduate of Harding High School in Charlotte, NC, class of 1957. She worked at many jobs during her career including reporter/photographer/columnist for the Lebanon Democrat newspaper, real estate agent, and she served for over 30 years as a State Farm Insurance agent in Mt. Juliet.

She was very civic minded and was enlisted to write the Bicentennial Grant that led to the founding of the Mt. Juliet Library.  This effort resulted in her being named "Citizen of the Year" by the Mt. Juliet Kiwanis Club.  She further served on the Wilson County Library Board for over 40 years as well as serving one term on the Wilson County School Board.  She was active in the Mt. Juliet / West Wilson Chamber of Commerce, and in her younger years served as a Cub Scout Den Mother.

Carolyn loved history and genealogy and travel.  Many trips across the United States and the Caribbean often combined these interests. She was also an avid collector of nautical-themed memorabilia, particularly lighthouses, which she would always make a point to visit in her travels.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Juliet Library, 2765 N. Mt. Juliet Road, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122. The family wishes to extend their deep gratitude to the staff at Carrick Glen who made her last years as comfortable as possible. Arrangements are in the care of Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet, 2229 N. Mt. Juliet Road, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122, 615-758-5459, obituary line 615-758-8818, www.sellarsfuneralservices.com
