Obituary of Ophelia Ann Owensby

Mrs. Ophelia Ann “Nanny” Owensby, age 81 of Hartsville, TN passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Hartsville Health and Rehab.

Mrs. Ann was born in 1942 to the late Woodrow & Helen Dickerson Ellis in Hartsville, TN.  She spent most of her working career as a Seamstress at Hartman Luggage.  After retiring from Hartman she was locally known as “Nanny” the Cook at Oldham’s Market. 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by:  Husband, L.B. “Festus” Owensby Jr.; Daughter, Mary Ann Bowen; Sister, Sue Robertson and Grandchildren, Daniel Likens and Maggie May Dickens.

Survived by:  Son, Ricky (Mindy) Knight-Lebanon, TN; Daughter, Janet (Darrell) Sevier-Hartsville, TN; 7 Grandchildren, Misty (Stacey) Hale, Tiffany (Kenny) Key, Candy Dickens, Jason (Harvest) Bowen, Ashley (Angela) Bowen, Joshua (Stephanie) Hoffman and Chad (Mallory) Hoffman; 11 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren; Niece, Angela Bailey and Special Cousin, Effie Watkins.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Anthony Funeral Home at 1 PM Monday, January 22, 2024 conducted by Bro. Tim Blackburn. Interment will be in the Dixon Springs Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 1 to 8 PM Sunday and 10 AM until service time Monday.
