Obituary of Ronnie Sneed

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronnie Sneed, a beloved husband, father, and friend to many. Ronnie was born on July 4, 1937, in Nashville and passed away on January 17th, 2024. Ronnie had a heart filled with kindness and generosity, and he treated everyone with warmth and friendliness. He had a unique ability to make people feel at ease, and he never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those in need. He will be deeply missed.

"Ronnie," as many of his close friends and family called him, was preceded in death by his parents, John Sneed and Willie Mae Sneed; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 63 years, Joanne Sneed; his children, Mark Sneed, Christy (Rick) Miller, and Pam Rickman (Sam); his eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Growing up, his father was a butcher, which sparked Ronnie's career in food service as a bagger at 12 years old. After marrying the love of his life and best friend, Joanne, in 1960 he started his first job in the food industry at Vess-Johnson Brokerage in Nashville. From 1979 to 1988, Ronnie was a partner at Kenneth Lester. Then, in 1988, he became the Director of Purchasing at PFG until his retirement in 1999.

Ronnie, whose life was marked by his deep love for his family and the Lord, served as elder at Mt. Juliet Church of Christ from 1976-1998. He cherished the moments spent in Gatlinburg, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the love of his family. Ronnie was an avid fan of old westerns and enjoyed watching them with his loved ones. He was a passionate Friendship Christian School sports superfan where his grandchildren played, and he never missed a game. He loved spending time with his family and was always excited to attend family events. Always making time spent with his grandchildren a priority above everything else, Ronnie was known to cancel appointments or other pre-planned events just to be with them. Ronnie, a regular customer at Cracker Barrel, had his favorite waitress who knew his order by heart!

He was always quick to offer a helping hand to those in need and had a glass bottle of Coca-Cola ready to share. His warm smile and heart of gold will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Ronnie's impact on his family was immeasurable, and his love for his grandkids was unparalleled. He adored spending time with them and creating memories that they will cherish forever. Ronnie's legacy lives on through the memories he created with his family and friends and the impact he made on the lives of those he encountered.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 21st at 1 pm at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Bro. John Vaughan officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens with Mark Sneed, Rick Miller, Sam Rickman, Jon Miller, Mitch Miller and Luther Head serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, January 21st from 11 am until time of service.
