Obituary of Ronald Colson

Ronald Colson, beloved husband, father, brother and Uncle transitioned from our Earthly plane into his full Glory on Sunday, January 21st at the age of 75.

Ronnie, fondly often referred to as “RC” was born to (and is preceded in death by) his honored parents, Thomas Jefferson and Oceile Stewart Colson on April 22, 1948. His dear siblings, Thomas Jefferson Jr. (Rose) Colson, Bernice (Frank) Maurier, Francis (Joe) Williams, Dr. Henry Bob Colson, Benny (Judy, surviving) Colson also precede him. Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Jane of 31 years, his proud son Ben, 3 blessed daughters, Brenda (Patrick) Bonner, Cathy (Luis) Del Rio, Veronica (Brooks) Whitlow, along with his 7 prized grandchildren, Eyan, Eva, Sai, Vin, Caroline, Rosie and Nora. He is also survived by his remaining spirited and devoting siblings, Grace (Spencer, preceded) Doss, Bill (Linda) Colson, Ken (Elaine) Colson, Linda (James) Barnwell, along with a host of cherished nieces and nephews.

Ronnie, a 1966 graduate of Washington County High School, Sandersville, GA and member of the 1st Infantry Division during the Vietnam War (1967-69), will be remembered and honored for his wonderful wit, humor, light hearted presence, warm hospitality and generous spirit. He thrived as an avid hunter, outdoorsman and monumental Georgia Bulldogs fan, enjoying golf, his fellow church family at Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene where he remained a
member, along with enjoying the quality time spent hosting his family and friends and teasing his grandkids as good natured “ribbing” was undoubtedly his favorite “love language.” Ronnie also proudly worked for and retired from K-T Clay Co. as the Director of Safety and Environmental Affairs for 41 years where co-workers still share stories of his time there among them.

Visitation for Ronnie and the family will be January 31st from 9:00am-10am with his Memorial Service immediately following, welcoming his long time friend and pastor, Pastor Lamar Brantley as the Officiant. Following the service, refreshments will be available on site at Sellars Funeral Home for family and guests traveling to Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Ln, Nashville TN 37221 where Ronnie’s Committal Service will begin at 1pm. Following this graveside gathering, dinner will be provided for the family at Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Restaurant, 50 Old Pleasant Grove Rd, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122 as a way to honor Ronnie’s generous wish to be able to feed and host his loved ones, an act he thoroughly delighted in.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 185, Tennille, GA 31089.
