Obituary of Bettye Gilliam Stone

Bettye Stone, known as “DeDe” to everyone who loved and knew her, passed away on January 24, 2024 at age 89. The Funeral Service, conducted by Reverend Bucky Hesson, is 1 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2024 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN. Interment in Wilson County Memorial will follow the service. Pallbearers: Scott Hallums, Heath Stone, Zachary Stone, Ken Williams, Brandon Thompson, Perry Griffin, and Josh Pokluda. Honorary Pallbearers: Jim Mills, Lebanon-Wilson County Library Board and staff, past and present. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m.

               Bettye Jane Gilliam Stone was born in Columbia TN to Annie Elizabeth McCall and Ercell McLemore Gilliam. Her greatest joy was spent with her family. She became an amazing cook and baker as she provided for her family. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Stone was very involved in the church, First United Methodist Church, and in the Lebanon-Wilson County Library, and many other Civic organizations in the Lebanon area.

               Mrs. Stone is survived by her children: Barbara Stone Hallums, Larry Thomas “Tommy” (Susan) Stone, and James Ellis “Jimmy” (Laurie) Stone; grandchildren: Scott Hallums, Kelley (Brandon) Thompson, Haley (Perry) Griffin, Heath (Kelsey) Stone, Megan (Josh) Pokluda, and Zachary (Jessica) Stone; and 16 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Larry Ellis Stone, son-in-law Garry William Hallums, and sister Martha Anne Gilliam Lorbecki.
