Obituary of Doris Ruth Powell

Doris Ruth Powell, age 83 of Portland, Tennessee passed away Friday, January 26, 2024 at Signature HealthCare in Portland. Mrs. Doris was born on May 26, 1940 in Alabama City, Alabama to the late Elsie Jackson and Jennette Sheppard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Darl L. Powell; sons, Darl Powell, Jr. and Scott Powell; sisters, Betty Zouyras and Carolyn Sheppard; brothers, Jerry Sheppard and Bobby Sheppard;

Mrs. Doris is survived by her children, Joseph Plouffe, Glenn Powell (Billie), Dione Winslow, and Chris Powell; step children, Victoria Powell, B-Ray Powell, Annie Lee (Randy), Michelle Powell and Tony Powell; grandchildren, Richard Kipher (Liz), Amber Boren, Kristen Powell, Lapellya Powell, Christopher Powell, Gregory Powell, Joey Brusen, Laura Ziegler, Michael Winslow and Joshua Winslow; siblings, Tony Sheppard (Margaret), Linda Turnbow, Sammy Sheppard (Virginia), Ricky Sheppard, Merrue Powell, Angelo Sheppard, Victor Sheppard, Janice Jaffa (Mike), and Kenna Sheppard (Jeannie); niece, Jody Williams.

There will be a visitation on Thursday, February 1^st from 6:00-8:00 PM at Sellars Family Heritage at Portland. Interment will be on Friday, February 2^nd at 10:00 AM at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville.
