Obituary of Sherman Denney
Sherman Denney, age 67 of Portland, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, February 7th at 3:00 p.m. at Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 7th from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Bush’s Chapel Cemetery, with Michael Cowan, Wayne Goolsby, Thomas Denney, Brandon Denney, Brad Weaver, and Kyle Phebus serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin to assist the family with expenses.
Mr. Denney was born January 3, 1957 in Davidson County to the late George Halcomb Denney and Loretta Jean Presley Denney. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by step-daughter, Denise Weaver; and sisters, Janice Woodard and Georgia Campbell. He is survived by wife of 12 years, Cheryl Baker Denney of Portland; sons, Jason Denney (Sonja) of Bethpage and Shawn Reed of Portland; daughter, Lisa Groves of Gallatin; son-in-law, Brad Weaver of White House; brothers, Jeff Denney (Sally) of Kentucky and Wayne Denney of Nashville; sisters, Connie Denney of Portland and Debra Brown (Ricky) of Portland; grandchildren, Kyle Phebus (Stevie), Drake Allan Phebus, Rylan Phebus, Thomas Denney (Bailey), Brandon Denney (Becca), Julie Denney (Jon), Bradley Groves (Morgan), and Hannah Groves (Jordan); great grandchildren, Aiden Phebus, Rylan Phebus, Lilly Sumner, Blake Sumner, Kaden Denney, John Luke Denney, Silas Denney, Levi Denney, Waylon Collins, Mason Collins, Levi Collins, and Peyton Groves; beloved pet, Koda; and numerous nieces and nephews.
