Obituary of Martha Ann Capps

CAPPS, Martha Ann, age 91 of Mt. Juliet, passed away on March 22, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Link Capps; parents, Emmett Leon Still, Sr. and Tennie (Wilson) Still; son, David Wayne Capps; brothers, Emmett Leon Jr. and William Still; sisters, Hattie Mae Welch and Margaret Murphy; and grandson, Phillip Dale Robinson. She is survived by her children, Maryann (Joe) Robinson, Debora (Eddie) Ross, Tennie Rose Bean, and Mark Anthony Capps; grandchildren, John Wesley (Heather) Robinson, Jason (Jessica) Robinson, Heather (Vinnie) Peila, Courtney (Chase) Baker, Daniel Ross, Alison (Jason) Brown, Hayden Bean, and Ashley Campbell; and great-grandchildren, Lucas Campbell, Anson Robinson, Kit Baker, Roman Brown, Ellis Baker, Decklin Walker, and Addie Peila.

Martha was a great mother and grandmother; she was dedicated to taking care of her son Mark. She also cared for her ailing father and brothers until their deaths. She taught her children to have love, respect, responsibilities, and a good work ethic. She taught her children how to love the Lord by example. She was a member of Gladeville Methodist Church for 50 years, where she cleaned for many years. Martha was on the Board of The Mountain Top Mission Work, where she worked many years in their summer mission projects in East, TN. She also drove a school bus for Wilson County for 23 years.

Martha loved sewing and helping her sisters with their seamstress businesses for a long time, she even made her daughters clothes for years. She was always so crafty and could do just about anything, even stained-glass work. Martha was a very funny and mischievous lady who was a great cook, loved helping her husband (Rufus) with farming and gardening, had a motorcycle, and was an animal lover.

The Visitation will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024, from 5-8pm and again on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 12pm until time of Service at 1pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 1pm at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet. The Interment will follow the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.
