Obituary of Jerry Wayne Cook

JERRY WAYNE COOK

FEBRUARY 13, 1949 - MARCH 29, 2024

Born February 13, 1949, passed away at the age of 75 March 29, 2024 @ 10:27pm, surrounded by his loving family, after being diagnosed in May of 2013 with Parkinson's Disease. He fought a hard and brave battle.

He was preceded in death by parents, Jesse Cook and Alma Pauline (Castleow) Cook; brothers, James Cook and Ray Cook; step-daughters, Debbie and Terri Somers.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Cook; daughter, Angel (Marty) Sullivan; stepson, Donnie Somers; grandsons, Codye (Kati) Sullivan and Caleb Sullivan;  step-granddaughters, Lisa (Rock) Schoot and Melissa (Noah Krantz) Storie; many great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Cook; sisters, Joyce (Don) Lee, Carolyn (James) Ervin, and Shirley Kendall; his beloved granddog, Domino; and many loyal customers.

Jerry was a loving and selfless husband, father, and grandfather who spent his life helping others. At the age of 16, he went to West Texas to JobCore for a year before enlisting in the Navy, where he served in the Vietnam War. After returning from war, Jerry married his wife, Mary.

In 1977 Jerry decided to move his family to Mt. Juliet where he opened his own business, Mt. Juliet Heating and Air Company. He continued that business until 2020 when retired after 43 years.

Jerry loved Dale Earnhardt, Nascar racing, Panama City Beach, deepsea fishing, his hot tub, cruising and cutting his grass with his Budweiser.  His favorite thing was to sing George Jones songs at karaoke or in the garage as loud as it could be.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 4:00pm-8:00pm, and Friday, April 12, 2024 from 12:00pm-2:00pm. Services will be held at 2:00pm in the chapel at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet.
