Obituary of Walter Raymond Carson

Walter Raymond Carson, age 92 of Gallatin, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.  Funeral Service will be Friday, April 19th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin, with Bro. Doyle Farris and Winston Tipps officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, April 19th from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.  Interment, with Military Honors, will follow the service at Cedar Grove Cemetery, with Michael Henry, Mark Henry, Tanner Carson, Taylor Carson, Nate Bradley, and Mark Whitby serving as pallbearers.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105-9959.

Mr. Carson was born January 7, 1932 in Lebanon to the late Fred S. Carson and Queen Elizabeth Williams Carson.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, John Carson, William Carson, Douglas Carson, and Jerry Carson; and sister, Mary Tipps McAlister.  He is survived by wife of 73 years, Molly J. Martin Carson of Gallatin; children, Deborah J. Henry (Shane) of Gallatin and Jerry David Carson (Rhonda) of Gallatin; grandchildren, Michael Henry (Nicole), Mark Henry, Melanie Newport (Nate), Tanner Carson, and Taylor Carson; and great grandchildren, Henry Newport and Harper Newport.  Mr. Carson served our country in the United States Air Force.  He retired from the United States Department of Agriculture as Sumner County’s Executive Director after 38 years of service.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.
