I remember "Miss Kate" from childhood at Center Chapel. She grew the most beautiful flowers; from the spring until right on up to winter, she grew and shared those flowers with us at church almost every Sunday. It was the daffodils I remember most, though. I had never seen such beauty as all I ever knew were the old fashioned "buttercups". She was a great lady.

Many memories of Mrs. Bland over many years. We had enjoyed so many conversations about Vanderbilt sports! She traveled to Hawaii with the team!!! I enjoyed her stories about playing basketball in Shelbyville -- one day we took a sentimental journey to Shelbyville and I enjoyed the personal tour of some of her favorite spots! She loved life and I loved her! She will always be a role model of living life fully!!! ~Barbara

Kate was one of my closest friends for many years despite the decades age difference. We shared the same interests - antiques, Vanderbilt sports, Titans games and life in general. Her loyalty was beyond question and our trips and time together were some of the happiest of my life. She was a devout Christian and her life mirrored that. She was always ready to "go" and accompanied me on many trips to Pennsyvania, Ohio, Louisiana and Indiana. She was always congenial and fun. She and my husband went to Atlanta to see the Titans in the Super Bowl. I could never do anything for her or give her anything that she didn't reciprocate in double measure. She shared with me her deep love for her family members who predeceased her and I felt like I knew them each and every one. Kate was the epitomy of a perfect lady. She was a beautiful person inside and out and, though I am deeply saddened at her passing, I am comforted that she is with her beloved Ed and the other family members which she so loved and honored. I will always miss her!

Kate was one of my very best long-time friends. Our friendship dates back to the early 1960's. She taught me lots about cooking, flower gardening, Hallmark ornaments, etc. We carried her to lots of places, doctors, shopping, sight-seeing, to Vandy games, and even flew with her to Hawaii. My husband, Derrel, conducted Ed's funeral and did lots of repair jobs for her. We helped her move from the farm to Mt. Juliet and then moved her again to The Meadows. I was with her during the deaths of her sister, Mae Faulk, and her brother, Hugh Searcy. I have so many precious memories of visits with her and helping her as she got older. I will truly miss visiting with my dear friend, Katie Lee Bland.
