Obituary of Katherine Freels Brown

Kathy Brown passed away on July 22, 2012 at age 60. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12 p.m. until the service. The chapel service, conducted by Brother Kevin Medlin, is 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012. Katherine Sue Freels Brown was born March 8, 1952. She was the daughter of R.D. Freels and Susie Daniels. She grew up in Sunbright (Morgan County) TN in the home of her father and her grandparents, Joseph Freels and Lucy Elizabeth Human Freels. She attended college at Cumberland College in Williamsburg, KY and then moved to Hendersonville TN when she started her career with the Department of Human Services at the State Office in Nashville in 1978. She met her future husband, Wesley D. Brown and they married in 1986. She and her family moved to Lebanon in 1991, where she became a full time mother to her son Jordan Wesley Brown and her beautiful step-daughter Amanda Hardin. She has four grandchildren, Austin Kiesler, John Wesley and Lucas Hardin, and Cora Bassler Brown. Mrs. Brown eventually worked at the Mother's Day Out Program at First Baptist Church for around 10 years. She always enjoyed working in the Vacation Bible School Program at her church, Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian. Mrs. Brown always enjoyed painting gourds, wood items, and back-drops for Vacation Bible School for her hobby.
