My (our) uncle Jimmy was "one of a kind." He was a very kind, caring, loving, and compassionate man. We loved him so very much. Had many good times with him in my younger years as well as in our later years. He always had some funny tale to tell! I will miss his sweet smile and laugh beyond what words can say. Nobody will ever be able to fill his shoes. I love you, Jimmy and hope to see you again one day.

I have so many fond memories of uncle Jim. He was always so kind to us growing up. I don't remember ever seeing him when he wasn't smiling, cracking a joke, or full of himself. When I was a little girl, I remember coming to his house and playing downstairs, where we were forbidding to play around the bar, (but always did). We would play like we were bartending. I don't think I ever told him that. I loved to hear him tell a joke or he would have something smart, sassy and sarcastic to say about someone or something going on. He was a wise man, a good man, and a caring man. There isn't anything he wouldn't do to help someone, even when he had nothing. I will always remember him and love him because he was the only uncle I have that meant so much to me. I love him and miss him so much already.

Jim and I spent many week ends fishing at Douglas for crappie in the winter, at Fontana in NC and Ft. Loundon through out the year. I remember he would sometimes bring a porkchop and biscuit sandwich that Rose made for him when we fished in the winter at Indian Creek. We sold Christmas trees beside my father's grocery store just before he married Rose and part of that money went toward her ring. He showed me the ring before they were married. He would sing sometimes when we were together. He had a great voice and could sing better than some professionals that I had heard at that time. However, he was bashful when it come to singing. He could have been a professional singer or fisherman. He had a great smile and giggle type laugh. He worked hard and he fished hard. He will be missed by many. J.R.

I remember Uncle Jim way back when I was just a young kid as a great uncle and always fun to be around. It was a huge family group most of the time and Jim was an important part of that. He was also gracious enough to invite me to come down fishing with him at Fontana about 15 years ago. We spent all night fishing and telling stories. I'd never done anything quite like that before and really appreciate his kindness and generosity. I will miss him.

I met Jim and Rose in March 1993 when I moved next to them on Ivy log S/D. They were excellent neighbors and became close friends. Over the years, we talked , laughed, ate and cried together. Jim was a good man who loved his family dearly and there is no doubt that he will be missed by all. Please know that I was out of town and did not learn of Jims passing until I returned. I regret that I was not able to attend his services. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family . Bertha A. Sanchez
