Kevin Moser, Hair Stylist to Socialites and Owner of Element Salon, Is Dead at 44 Kevin Moser, one of Nashville's most acclaimed and successful hair stylists, died here on Thursday, June 28, 2012. He was 44. His death is attributed to natural causes. Widely held as one of the greatest hair stylists in Nashville, his cuts and colors were the spectacular kind that changed the shape of fashion in Music City. Moser owned Element, a nationally recognized, award-winning salon. Element was highlighted in a New York Times bestselling book by fashion writer Charla Krupp and was recently named in a prestigious list of America's top salons by Elle Magazine and Salon Today Magazine. The salon, known as a standout for its selection of quality and luxury hair services, is in the retail heart of Green Hills. Moser was known for his matchless spirit, offering individualized attention and low-key advice in the casual environment of his salon. He had countless friends and admirers. An acknowledged master with scissors and color, Moser was the man behind the hairdos for hundreds of Nashville's most celebrated women. With an instinctive eye for the possibilities of beauty, he transformed the way women wore and cared for their hair. The response Moser had received from clients over the past several years led him to expand his salon. Despite the downturn in the economy, Element thrived in recent years and experienced rapid customer and business growth. A self-described Type A entrepreneur, Moser was driven to build a business that would be a game changer for Nashville, exhibiting tenacity and an unmatched work ethic. Early on, he gained notoriety for his first salon, in the city's legendary Jamie's Boutique. Fair and generous with his employees, he funded training and development opportunities for countless stylists. Moser was born in Jacksonville, Florida. After his parents divorced, he lived in cities such as Chattanooga and Virginia Beach. At 15, he moved with his mother to Crossville, Tenn. Moser attended Middle Tennessee State University and graduated from the Jon Nave Beauty School in Nashville. Mr. Moser is survived by his half-sisters, Stephanie Stoner and Megan Moser, and partner, Scott Stalker.
