I remember the first time you visited the firehall after you were born. So small and fragile. You grew up so quickly to climbing on the trucks and giving a quick high five when you stopped by. The first time I spent much time with Ethan was on his fifth birthday at his party. After the party Ethan, Leila and I colored in one of his new presents. As we colored, we talked and sang songs. Later we went upstairs to the apartment and the kids showed me their rooms and Ethan pointed out the guns he was so proud of. At one point he brought out a stuffed animal and told me I should take it home so I would remember him. Leila was in the background waving her arms and mouthing "don't take it", but Ethan wouldn't let me turn it down. Leila told me later that it was the stuffed animal that he slept with every night and if I took it, Ethan wouldn't be able to sleep. He tried again to give it to me as I left, but I asked him to keep it for me, since I had so many animals at my house already. As I understand it, that stuffed animal will accompany Ethan to his eternal rest because it meant so much to him. And yet, he was willing to give it away because he thought I needed it. That's the kind of boy he was and the way I will forever remember him.

Jeremy and Cassandra, Words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. Even though I never got to meet Ethan, I felt like I got to know him through the stories that Chris and Sydney would come home telling me about the funny thing he did or said, or both. I feel like it is my loss that I never got to meet this AWESOME little boy! Sydney loved to come over and play with both your kids. I told her of Ethan leaving this earth, and it broke her heart (she cried). She and Christopher truly loved Ethan.
Your family are in my prayers. I pray that god will give you the strength you need to get through each day without him. That the memories of him will get you through the days when you just feel like you can't get out of bed and face another day for the loss of your beloved son. I pray that god will hold you close so you will feel the comfort of his love.

I've always heard that it takes a village to raise a child, and ethan was no different. He was always full of energy running laughing and full of smiles. We all looked after him. He was a special little country boy that always had a smile on his face. He brought joy to everyone around him. For years now he has always been our alarm clock at the firehall and has been a wonderful friend to our children. We will miss this wonderful child of God more than words can say. I can see him now in heaven running all around Gods feet. I'm pretty sure little E-man has already broken something. I would like to take this time to send a special prayer to Ethan and the beareaving Family. It's just no words that I can express to what you guys are going through.
