Obituary of Oleks Y. Rudenko

RUDENKO, Oleks Y., age 88 of Mt. Juliet passed away December 30, 2013. Mr. Rudenko was a former Ukrainian citizen taken during WWII who was incarcerated in the German Nazi Concentration Camp, Dachau, as a slave laborer, where he survived for 3 years prior to coming to America. He spoke 5 languages, Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, German and English. After receiving his PhD, he became a Russian linguist instructor with the 101st Military Intelligence Battalion, US Army, Fort Riley, KS. Mr. Rudenko was preceded in death by parents, Yevdokym & Yevkokia Rudenko; and brothers, Mykola, Ivan, Vasyl and Mykola Rudenko. He is survived by his wife of 48 � years, Katherine Rudenko; daughters, Larissa Rudenko (David) Wright and Irina O. Rudenko (Sean McWhortor); grandchildren, Katherine and Jacob Wright and Isabelle, Mason, Bentley and Oakley McWhortor; and several nieces and nephews in Ukraine. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 3rd at 1:30 pm at St. George's Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Road, Nashville, TN 37205. Interment will follow the service at Mt.
