Obituary of Roskam Virginia E.
Virginia Roskam, age 83, passed away peacefully at her home with her family present on January 20, 2009. She was born on June 22, 1925 in Gotebo, OK, the oldest of six children. Her family moved to San Diego CA when she was fourteen after the Great Depression and Dust Bowl. She moved to Tennessee with her husband Frank. She was retired from the Baptist Sunday School Board (LifeWay). She was preceded in death by her husband Frank F. Roskam, Jr., father Earl Van Deventer, mother Mary Francis Van Deventer, sister Peggy Isbell, sister Vivian "Jane" Young, daughter Linda "Joyce" Baskin, daughter Sue E. Gattis, grandson Jon Gattis, granddaughter Michelle Malley, and grandson Randy Malley. She was the beloved mother of six children, 15 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Jess (Sharon) Van Deventer of National City CA; sisters: Linda Bennett of Chula Vista CA and Paula (Gary) Yakel of Spring Valley CA; daughters: Mary Kay Smith, Nancy Graham and Gail Orrand, all of Lebanon TN; son: Frank "Eddie" (Cindy) Roskam, also of Lebanon TN; devoted grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon on Thursday, January 22, 2009 from 2-8 p.m. and on Friday from 11 a.m. until service. The chapel service, conducted by Brother Donald Owens, 1 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2009. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
