JUST TODAY, I FOUND 2 OF HIS WONDERFUL WORKS, CLOUDED LEOPARD , AND AN UNTITLED CHEETAH I BELIEVE. I KNEW NOTHING OF HIM, BUT HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS ON THE INTERNET TO FIND OUT MORE OF HIS WORKS. I PICKED THESE UP SO I COULD PUT THEM IN THE COMMISSARY OF THE EL PASO ZOO, WHERE MY WIFE WORKS AS A SUPERVISOR. I THOUGHT THEY WOULD CERTAINLY LOOK NICE THERE, NOT REALIZING THAT THE ARTIST HAD PASSED ON. BUT HIS WORK WILL CONTINUE TO BRIGHTEN THE HALLS OR AN OFFICE THERE. MY CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY. I worked with Jim at Bechtel way back in 1972. He painted a portrait of my son, James and although I couldn't afford it, he painted it anyway because he thought my son was cute. He said he would do it as a sample, and if he needed to show someone a sample he would borrow it back. He never did, and it is still a prize possession. He caught the mischief, the bright eyes and the devilment in my little boy. My little boy is now 44, but I still love looking at that portrait.
I was looking at it last night and decided to see if I could find him on-line. Unfortunately he has passed. He was a wonder artist, and although I am now an artist, I have always strived to be as good as his work. I haven't made it yet, but maybe someday I will.
A great talent gone.
