Obituary of George M. Hocker

HOCKER, GEORGE MELVIN, Sr., age 87 of Old Hickory, TN passed away April 21, 2008 after a brief illness. Visitation will be held at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm, Thursday, April 24th with the service to follow at 3:30 pm, Phil Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens, Mt. Juliet, TN. Mr. Hocker was a veteran of World War II. He retired from Genesco Shoe Company after 53 years of service and was owner of Mt. Juliet Skate Inn from 1980 to 1984. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Hocker; children, George Hocker, Jr. (wife, Jan) of McKinney, TX, Terry Hocker (wife, Kathy ) of Harrisburg, PA, Kathy Chester (husband, Vic) of Mt. Juliet, TN and Jill Herring (husband, Don) of Murfreesboro, TN; seven grandchildren, Staci Gregory, Terry Hocker, Sonya Knight, Shannon Chester, Dustin Chester, Gray Smith and Tanner Herring; seven great-grandchildren, Ethan and McKenna Gregory, Tyler, Zachary and Emma Hocker, and Summer and Hannah Knight.
