Obituary of Essie Belle Bowen

BOWEN, Essie Belle, born July 31, 1913 daughter of Lee and Susie Griffin, departed this life on March 18, 2008 at the age of 94. Ms Bowen was the owner of Bowen's Grocery from 1961 to 1976 and she was a member of the Mt. Juliet Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by husband, Pirt Bowen; son, Joe Frank Bowen; sisters, Annie Lee Riggan and Mary Jane Stewart; and brother, Arnold Griffin. Ms Bowen is survived by one daughter, Peggy Lee Moore of Mt. Juliet, TN; four grandchildren, Belinda Lee Woodard of Chocowinity, NC, Joanna (Nickey) Walters of Lebanon, TN, Frankie Bowen of Coopertown, TN, and James Alexander Silcox of Springfield, TN; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Friday, March 21st at 11 am at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Bro. David Shannon officiating. Interment will follow the service at Leeville Cemetery.
