We never met Mr. Grandstaff, but knowing DeLayne and her kids tells us a lot about this man. We are so sad his life ended suddenly and tragically this way. We will continue to look after his sweet little girl and precious grandkids knowing what a terrific job he has done caring for them through the years.

Joe was a good friend and mail carrier. He was my sub when he first started working at Post Office. Was a joy to work with. I will miss him .

Our fondest memories of Joe will be his help to teach our grandchildren to swim. He was always a kid at heart around the swimming pool. We had the pleasure of sharing holidays & family events with him. He always brought laughter & fun to any event. We were shocked to hear the sad news. Our hearts hurt so for Gage & Reanna as they loved their Poppa so much! Please know our prayers are with Carol, DeLayne, Sara, Nancy & the entire family. We love ya'll.

My teacher, my protector, and my coach, he was also my agitator and my aggravator. I guess he was just my brother. He taught my cat how to swim in a barrel and liked to have my favorite doll "hanging out" in the tree in the back yard. Lots of laughs and lots of tears and lots of memories. Miss you brother.

Joe’s smile, laughter, and sarcasm will remain with me forever. I met him because he had a sweet tooth for ice-cream. Joe and Carol would come visit me at the Old Hickory Dairy Queen, and I would make them their favorites. I always knew what they wanted, and they always brought a smile to my long days at work. After knowing him for about a year, he would start telling me stories about what he studied in college. He even offered me tutoring lessons in the area I struggled most: Political Science. I will always remember two things about Joe. 1) His favorite Dessert from DQ, was a bowl of vanilla soft-serve with strawberries and chocolate cone dip on top! 2) His love for his wife Carol, the love those two shared was incredible and was like no other love I have ever witnessed. My condolences go out to her, and the rest of his family.

It's hard to find words to say all that's in my heart. I knew Joe to be more like an older brother than a cousin, especially as a young girl. Summers spent on the farm gave such priceless memories...new lambs, snipe hunts, chasing lightnin' bugs, fireworks over the lake, swimmin' in the creek. Through it all. that wicked sense of humor and fun reigned. It didn't matter whether you were hauling hay, chopping tobacco or whatever, you laughed through it if Joe was around. He taught my oldest about "Bambi's Daddy" and ALWAYS loved his family. His many antics in life gave my father, his "Uncle Sonny" pleasure in his last months, when little else did. He will be sorely missed, as he was such a gift to this world and all who knew him. I pray he is at peace and that all his family will find comfort in the love and memories he gave us. My prayers are with you all !
Much love to each of you. Cindy ( Katie and Deanna) Sanders
