It is with great sadness to hear of your loss, Jim was a great mentor and leader for me as a shooter. He was so helpful and encouraging to be around, he always had a big smile and some good advice. I have alot of fond memories of him and I will always remember him. God Bless Blairsville, Pennsylvania

I am sincerely sorry for your loss and know beyond measure it is a heartfelt loss. Mr. James Spurling was a great man and I had the privilege of meeting him through Jamey ("Daddy's Little Girl"). The greatness of Mr. Spurling was displayed through his warm heart and caring spirit, and his willingness to make any situation he knew he could fix better. Many more things can be said, but the most moments to remember about Mr. Spurling for me are his great hugs and his tireless energy. It was also a treat to see Mrs. Spurling so receptive of those hugs. Spurling Family, my thoughts and prayers are with you and remember to never forget the many beautiful moments you shared with your beloved family member. Love, Dianne Bass

Irene, My heart goes out to you and your children and grandchildren. I have just read in the Roane County News, on line, about Jim's passing and just had to let you know how sorry I
am for your loss. What a wonderful long marriage you had! I know your
memories will be a consolation for you. I am so sorry I have lost touch
these past few years. Love Velma Holder, Charlotte NC

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time of trial. I had the pleasure of meeting Jim as a teenager, he helped me sight the scope on my rifle. I remember he always had a smile and never met a stranger. His advice was invaluable in my decision to enlist in the United States Marine Corps and for that I will always be gratful. If it gives you any comfort, know that the world is a btter place because Jim lived. Sincerely Paul B. Rogers
