I played in a band with Steve for a few years and ended up in Nashville in his band. Did not keep in touch after 1972 or so but did try to look him up but could not find him. Sorry to here of his passing but it sounds like we definitely know where he's at. What a comfort. No one will probably see this posting in April, 2014 but I just found out. Please feel free to contact me. I have some pics of him on my Facebook page.

I am so sorry Steve is gone. I didn't even know he was that sick. I thought he was ok. That was the last I heard. I loved him....I really did and I love you Royce. I am so grateful for what Steve did for Cody. I was so proud that he went to Cody's 5th grade graduation. On our way home I thanked him for going and he said "I wouldn't have missed it for the world." I will never forget that! Cody will never forget it either. Steve really did make a positive impression on Cody's life. You both did. I also got him addicted to my ham,egg and cheese sandwiches. He loved them and had me make them for him all the time. He told me I was the second best cook he has ever known. Of course Royce is the first! Royce, he loved you so much. When I was there I could see his love for you in everything he did. He'd bathe Taz and I'd hear him say to Taz when he was blow drying him" You will smell and look so good for when mama gets home." He adored you so much Royce. I have many pictures and memories of Cody's and my time there. We are both so grateful for the time we had with him and the time I had with you. I love you so much. You are more like a mother to me than an aunt and always have been. I am so sorry....for everything! My biggest sorrow is not being there to say goodbye. I will always have that regret! I love you all!

... Royce may God give you strength and guidance to endure this terrible loss of such a wonderful person as Steve. You will always have your memories, but sometimes they are just not enough. "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those crushed in spirit." Now, I pray that you will be able to lay hold of that... "Oh He gives to us his joy, that our grief He may destroy ; 'Till our grief is fled and gone , He doth sit by us and moan." I moan for you and Steve today.

Royce and family,
We are so sorry for the loss and for the last month of fretting and fighting to get him back home. I was thinking today about how I was so concerned about him riding to Sturgess by himself a couple of years ago, but now so glad he did. It seems like everything just started going wrong right after that trip with the accident, then the news from last summer. We know he is strumming his guitar in heaven now...having a good time with all of his friends. Now may God heal your hearts and wrap you with His love as you go through this time of missing Steve. We love you and know we are only a phone call away. Stan and Debbie
