Master Sergent (Ret) Michael Fain posted a condolence
Thursday, May 12, 0001
Dear Family Please know that I thank God for our (Master Sergeant Patterson and I) paths crossed. As a young noncommissioned officer (NCO) when I arrived in Smyrna, TN in 1987 I was totally out of my comfort zone. However, it was MSG Patterson that totally welcomed me. The way he approached things was really new to me, "If you can't do anything about it, don't worry about". He took everything in stride, made everyone around him feel like they belong and that they were important. I truly believe that people don't just enter our lives for no reason and I truly believe it had not been for the caring heart of MSG Patterson, I probably would not have lasted as long in the military as I did. Grieve as you will, but remember his smile and the big heart of love that he always showed to others. This old world has lost a good man. God bless you and may He continue to strengthen you in your time of sorrow. MSG(Ret) Michael Fain
