How do you put into words, what someone means to you? I will try. Bro. West loved every single person. He was the strength, of The Lord. He was the voice of encouragement and wisdom, to slow you down and consider all you options and trust his experience. He was a man of prayer and faith, in all circumstances. His favorite phrase was "God is good", he was so right. He provided for the needs of many, including me & my children, in past times of need. He was a gift from God to all of us and he will be sincerely missed as we face this world without him. I'm sure he is happy now, waiting for our arrival in heaven some day, when our job is done here. At that time, I look forward to another one of his priceless "I love you" hugs. My family remains in prayer for your family. I am so sorry for your loss. With Love, The Raveling Family

I always called him by his middle name, Melvin. We grew up together and he was more like a brother than a cousin. So many funny memories. I guess one that we laughed about more than any happened about 47 years ago. He and Pat were sitting on their porch. I pulled into their driveway. One of them stated, "Well, here comes Carolyn". I kept going around to their back yard. The other spoke up and said, "Well, there goes Carolyn". I stopped the car directly under their clothes line. Long story as to why I did that, but it was always funny to us.

I met Bro. West when I was at Mt. Juliet Church of God. He was the Superintendent of the Sunday School. He was a friend to my family for many years. He was one of the best christian men I have ever known.

I just almost can not believe this ! My heart is broken! Mr West was always an inspiration to me. Every morning her would be on the front porch of Cracker Barrel when I walked up to open as a cashier. He always had an encouraging word, a hug and a smile. Most recently I saw him at the nursing home taking his morning walk with his precious wife, where my husband was a resident also and then again at the nursing home where he was with his family getting ready for their Thanksgiving Dinner with each other there. They all looked so happy. Even when they told me my husband would not make it to Christmas, he said, no one knows when our time on this earth it up except the Lord which gave me so much peace. He was a true Blessing to me!

I was so shocked to see that Charles passed I just saw him a few weeks ago at the nursing home. He always had a big smile and hug. I went in with him to see Pat. I saw what love he had for her. He was a good man and will be missed by many. I remember him when he pumped gas at Hilo oil too many years ago. So sorry and my prayers for PatQ and all the family.

I met Charlie at Cracker Barrel about seven years ago ... we became friends and Cracker Barrel is the only place I knew him and talked with him. Charlie and I talked often and we talked about the deep things of life. We talked about real life, not the fluff stuff. Charlie was a man of faith and that is how he lived his life ... I liked that. What spoke to me more than anything else was Charlie's loving commitment to his wife. Though she has been unable to talk for years, she had begun to sing some of the old Christian hymns of late. That was reassuring to Charlie and that blessed her family and staff where she is a resident ... I was also blessed when Charlie told me about this miracle. Charlie and I are the same age and I loved Charlie like a brother. I will surely miss him. Thanks Charlie for contributing wonderful friendship and fellowship to my life ... I'll see you later! .... Roland

This is my father who was such a loving and caring man. He loved everyone and always had a smile on his face no matter what internal struggles he faced. He loved his family and his friends with unconditional love. I've always known this about my father, but to sit here and read that everyone saw this in him blesses me more than you'll know. I'm grieving for my father and I love and miss him so much. I can't stop the tears because when I read these testimonies from you the tears flow, they are tears of joy to know how much my father meant to everyone. I know that he is in Heaven now celebrating his homecoming, and I also know that he would say "Don't cry for me for I am home where my father wanted me to be". I saw Christ's love in my father everyday of his life. I would like to close with this, we all have an appointment with death rather we are ready or not. Are you ready? My father lived his life everyday to serve and please God and I believe he would want me to remind you to do the same. Jesus said "'Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.".
